| The Prime Minister of India Dr. Singh today presented the MOU Excellence and SCOPE Excellence Awards.In a function presided over by the Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Patel,the Prime Minister gave the awards to the recipients. Speaking on the occasion the Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Patel said that the Central Public Sector Enterprises () have gone from strength strength in the post-reform period.The turnover of has increased from . 1,18,676 in 1990-91 to . 12,35,060 in 2009-10 and the profit in the same period has increased from . 2,272 to . 92,593 .While achieving this, it is also worth noting, that the Public Sector fraternity has expanded from 56,522 employees in 1990-91 to 14 employees in 2009-10.He also said that there is need to give more autonomy to empower the .The Minister also called for private sector participation in the form of private sector representation on the Boards of .This he said would bring in the expertise and knowledge in the private sector to the .
