The Minister for Human Resource Development and Chairman, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Shri Arjun Singh has restored the Winter Break for schools run by KVS, all over the country to the original dates from 22nd December to 1st of January from this academic year onwards. The move has been take to facilitate the minority community including Christians to celebrate Christmas during this period.
It may be recalled that in the last academic year, the Winter Break was given from 5th January to 19th January. This had invited representations against this change from the minority community especially the Christians who celebrate Christmas during the period.
The Minority Commission had also summoned KVS authorities seeking the reasons form changing the Winter Break to 5th January to 19th January from the original 22nd December to 1st of January.
