Jaipal Reddy administers pledge to follow Gandhian philosophy 75TH YEAR OF CONCLUSION OF DANDI MARCH CELEBRATED

“Gandhiji’s policy of non-violence is more relevant today since the destructive tools available with the mankind now have a much bigger catastrophic potential”. This was stated by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Culture, Shri Jaipal Reddy while addressing a public meeting ‘Dandi March: The Gandhian Way for Peace and Social Justice’ to commemorate the 75th year of the conclusion of Dandi March, here today. Shri Reddy said, the success of Dandi March enthused the spirit of sacrifice, self-confidence and the strength to accelerate the freedom struggle.

The Minister said that Gandhiji gave an incredible mass dimension to the freedom movement by choosing an ordinary item like salt for his protest, since it affected the poorest of the poor. Gandhiji prepared the Indian masses for democracy by developing in them the qualities of tolerance, perseverance and moderation, which were the key elements in his policy of non-violence he added.

Those attending the Meeting took a pledge to follow the Gandhian philosophy.

Organised by the Freedom Movement Memorial Committee, the Meeting was attended by Shri Ajit Jogi, MP and former Chief Minister, Dr.Yoganand Shastri and Shri Haroon Yusuf, both Ministers in the Delhi Government and several Gandhians.
