A total of 503 companies have been inspected under section 209A of the Companies Act 1956 during the years 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-2004.
Consequent to inspections carried out under the Companies Act, 1956 during the period specified above, prosecution under the Act has been initiated against the above mentioned companies in respect of violations of various provisions of the Act, as came to notice during inspections.
This information was given by Shri Prem Chand Gupta, Minister of Company Affairs in reply to a question raised by Shri Jaswant Singh Bishnoi in Lok Sabha today.
