for Ministry of Information & Broadcasting | Date - 28-11-2007

Indian films need to recapture their earlier position in Turkey, says the noted actress from Turkey Meltem Cumbul. The Member of the Jury for the Competition Section made these remarks while addressing the media at IFFI-2007. Ms. Cumbul said that Indian films, especially those of Raj Kapoor had been very popular in her country. Of late this trend had undergone a change, she said. She herself has been a great fan of Raj Kapoor.

Ms. Cumbul said that story, screenplay and presentation are the core aspects that she weighs most in evaluating a film.

Ms. Cumbul has acted in over 50 films besides being involved with several radio and television shows. The film ‘Lovelorn’ directed by Yavuz Turgul, in which Ms Cumbul plays the lead female role is being screened in the Cinema of the World section at IFFI-07.
