Indian diaspora youth Complete 14th know India Programme

A group of 39 Indian diaspora youth from 14 countries called on the Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Vayalar Ravi in New Delhi today. The diaspora youth were the participants of 14th Know India Programme (KIP), organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs in partnership with States of Maharashtra and Haryana. Interacting with the participants, Shri Ravi said that Indians are playing important role in different countries and diaspora is making its presence in the world. He said that said the purpose of organizing Know India Programme is to provide a unique forum for students and young professionals of Indian origin to share their views, expectations and experience and get an exposure to the diversities of contemporary India. He asked the youth of Indian origin to know and understand India and cement the bonds with it. The 14th Know India Program involves a stay of three weeks in India for 39 participants from 14 countries, namely Argentina, Canada, Chile, Fiji, Israel, Malaysia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, UK and Zimbabwe. In first leg of their programme, the participants visited several tourist destinations and institutions of Maharashtra and in second phase of their programme, they visited tourist destinations and institutions of Haryana.

The Know India Programmes are organized to with the objective of familiarizing Indian Diaspora youth with developments and achievements made by the country and bringing them closer to the land of their ancestors. The participants, PIOs in the age group of 18-26 years, are selected based on recommendations received from Heads of Indian Missions/Posts abroad. Selected participants are provided with full hospitality in India during the duration of the programme.
