for Ministry of Civil Aviation | Date - 01-07-2007

Delegations representing the Governments of India and Kuwait met in Kuwait on 28 - 30 June 2007 to address issues of mutual interest in the field of Civil Aviation. The Indian delegation was led by Mr. R. K. Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation. The Kuwait delegation was led by Mr. Fawaz Al-Farah, President, Civil Aviation. The Indian Ambassador in Kuwait, Mr. M. Ganapathi, also participated in the discussions as a member of the Indian delegation.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the Air Services Agreement which governs the civil aviation relations between India and Kuwait. Air services between the two countries would continue unhindered and without interruption.

They also reached a common understanding that increases in future traffic rights and capacity entitlements would be to serve only the direct India-Kuwait market and not indirect markets to/from third countries.

Both delegations agreed to increase capacity entitlements of each side from 8,320 to 12,000 seats per week. The Kuwaiti carriers were granted access to 3 additional points of call in India – Hyderabad and Kolkata with immediate effect and Bangalore with effect from Winter 2008.

The two delegations emphasized the historic and friendly relations between India and Kuwait and agreed to continue the dialogue on cooperation in the field of civil aviation.
