India and Behrain Sign Cultural Exchange Programme for the Years 2007-2010

India and Behrain have signed a Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) for the Years 2007-2010 to develop the cultural and scientific relations between the two countries. The CEP envisages cooperation in education, promotion of language, art and culture, the media, radio and television.

According to the CEP the two sides will exchange books, publications and audiovisuals for enhancing the knowledge of their respective cultures and education system and methods. Both sides will encourage the exchange of lecturers of Arabic language and literature and of Hindi language and literature as well as other Indian languages, as mutually decided. The two sides will cooperate in the preparation of books and audio visual aids designed for the teaching of Hindi and Arabic languages.

Both sides will take advantage of each other’s expertise in the area of computer training institutions or inviting computer training specialists in each other’s country. Both sides will encourage exchange of expertise and training in the areas of girl’s education including vocational education. The two sides will participate in the International Book Fairs which will be held in either country as a form of exchange, with participation on a commercial basis.

Behrain will take advantage of India’s expertise by inviting an expert in the field of preservation of historical documents and manuscripts. Behrain will take advantage of Indian expertise by inviting an expert in the field of textile restoration and preservation.

Both sides will cooperate in the field of theatre including participation in theatre festivals, exchange of equipment, theatre directors, teachers, and designers, to impart training in various aspects of theatre. Visits should be for the duration of four to six weeks.

Both sides will encourage exchange of programmes including documentaries broadcast by radio and television on national occasions in both countries. Both sides will exchange programmes broadcast by radio and television to acknowledge different aspects of life and culture in both countries.
