India Aviation-2014 Inaugurated at Hyderabad
The countryâs largest civil aviation exhibition, India Aviation-2014, has been inaugurated today at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad by Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Ajit Singh. This is the fourth edition of the International Exhibition & Conference on Civil Aviation.
At the opening ceremony, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Shri E.S.L. |Narasimhan was the chief guest. In his address, he said, âthe greatest plus for the aviation industry in India is liberal environment in both the domestic and international spheres, an airport modernization drive that is beginning to show results, and above all a vast potential for market growth to keep pace with the economic growth of the country. Andhra Pradesh is part and parcel of India aviationâs growth story in terms of infrastructure, modernization, and capacity augmentation particularly at the non-metro level in a significant way.â
In his inaugural address, Shri Ajit Singh underlined the significance of the show saying âthis event is much more than an aviation show. It provides a platform to experts to deliberate on how to improve connectivity, use newer technologies, developing better and more reliable air navigation services and air traffic management system.â
Shri Ashok Lavasa, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, in his opening remarks, took note of the rapid growth in civil aviation sector in the last decade. He said, âcivil aviation industry in India is experiencing a new era of expansion driven by factors such as low cost carriers (LCC), modern airports, Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in domestic airlines, cutting edge information technology (IT) interventions, growing emphasis on regional connectivity, increasing involvement of private participation under PPP and the policy of development of Greenfield airports. This surge has fuelled the demand for support services like ground handling, maintenance, repair & overhaul, etc .â
The exhibition has been organised jointly by Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). More than 250 exhibitors are participating in the event. The show will continue till March, 16.
