India, Panama sign MoU on Maritime Transportation

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for signing of Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation relating to maritime transportation and port development between India and Panama. The areas of cooperation identified include exchange of experience and background information, experts and technology covering issues such as infrastructure and the environment, management and operation and legal aspects; mutual promotion of Indian and Panamanian Ports; cooperation in technical/maritime training; and enhancing friendly relationship through social interaction between the two countries.

Interaction between the maritime community of the two countries will help in gaining insights into various aspects of maritime administration and development, particularly, in the context of the ongoing works for the Sethusamundram Ship Channel Project.
