The Assistant President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development Shri Phrang Roy held a meeting with the Minister for Tribal Affairs and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri P.R. Kyndiah in New Delhi today. They discussed various issues prominent among them how to effectively channelise the resources available from International Agencies for strengthening the livelihood pattern of the tribals in India, especially engaged in agricultural and allied activities. During the meeting, they palso discussed the policies for tribal welfare and the way they have evolved over the years benefiting them.
Shri Kyndiah did emphasise the unique socio-economic and geographic specifics of tribal in India given the large size of sub-continent and different nomenclatures used in different parts of the country. They also discussed important issues for exposure and training of all agencies and officials engaged in the tribal welfare and related issues for better sensitization.
