At a high level meeting convened here today, the Union Home Secretary and Defence Secretary reviewed various measures including further welfare steps for personnel of the Assam Rifles to enhance the effectiveness of the Force in its role of border guarding and counter-insurgency operations. The meeting was attended, among others by Secretary (Border Management), MHA, Vice-Chief of the Army Staff, Special Secretaries in Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defence, Director General, Military Operations and Director General, Assam Rifles. Further appropriate action will be initiated based on the discussions in a time bound manner.
