The gold production in the country during April-August, 2004 has been 3,742.7 kg. against 3,334 kg. produced during the same period last year. Out of this, Hutti Gold Mines Limited (HGML) has produced 1,639.7 kg. and Hindalco Industries Limited (HINDALCO) 2,103 kg. HGML is the only unit in the country processing gold from ore stage. HINDALCO processes gold as a byproduct while processing copper.
