GSI geo-scientific surveys

The Geological Survey of India (GSI), a subordinate organisation of the Mines Ministry, under specialized Thematic studies, has covered 7,735 sq. km. area on 1:25,000 scale in 30 projects in different parts of the country during the year 2003-04. Aerogeophysical multi-sensor data have been acquired in Nalagonda and Mahaboobnagar areas in Andhra Pradesh covering 31,919 km.

Marine Wing continued offshore geo-scientific survey programme within the EEZ of the Indian Ocean. In addition to seven cruises of R.V. Samudra Manthan which were completed within the EEZ, a total of five cruises have been planned for geo-chemical scan for Hydrocarbon in the Western offshore and Krishna Godavari basin under sponsored project of ONGC. Marine Survey has been undertaken in Territorial water (coastal launches) covering 3,825 sq. km.
