Financial Assistance for rehabilitation of widows, orphans, handicapped and older persons in militancy affected area

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has released Rs. 7, 00 crore to the J & K Council for Rehabilitation of widows, orphans, handicapped and other Older Persons since the year 2004-05.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has been implementing the General Grant in aid Programme for providing financial assistance in the field of Social Defence. Under the Scheme, a number of programmes are being supported since its inception towards rehabilitation of children of prostitutes, Sex Workers’ destitute children, widows, handicapped those who have been affected by the militancy or natural calamities. The Central assistance is being utilized to rehabilitate 8877 widows, orphans, handicapped and elderly persons in militancy-affected areas.
