FM sanctions Ex-Gratia relief to CBEC Inspectors killed in Mumbai blast

Central Board of Excise and Customs, Ministry of Finance, deeply regrets to announce that two employees of the CBEC were killed in the recent bomb blasts in Mumbai. They are Shri Shasi Shekhar and Shri Sanjay Samant, both Inspectors of Thane-II Central Excise Commissionerates. CBEC offers its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. The Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram has sanctioned payment of Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

Eleven other officers/employees of the CBEC were also injured. All medical expenses in connection with their treatment shall be borne by the Government (CBEC). Two Superintendents who suffered permanent disability have been given ex-gratia payments of Rs. 1 lakh each. The remaining injured have been given Rs. 25,000 each.
