With a view to strengthening the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute, four new academic divisions i.e. (i) Training, Orientation and Extension Division, (ii) Research, Evaluation and Documentation/Dissemination Division, (iii) Panchayati Raj Institution and Youth Affairs Division, and (iv) International Centre for Excellence in Youth Development have been sanctioned. In addition, the existing one division has been renamed as Social Harmony and National Unity Division. 14 new posts including four posts each of Faculty Heads and Training Officers have been sanctioned.
At present, all the above five academic divisions have become operational and are mandated to cover subjects listed above. The facilities available in Institute include Administrative, Academic and Hostel blocks, Conference and Class rooms, Library and residential quarters for faculty heads. An auditorium has also been sanctioned and is under construction.
It has been decided to undertake networking with the universities and other organisations engaged in the activities, which are conducive to the promotion of youth development. Information Technology enabled services including Video Conferencing System shall be provided for conducting training and undertaking extension projects etc.
