Enhancement of Resource Outlay for Government of India – United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

The Cabinet today approved the proposal of Ministry of Home Affairs to enhance resource outlay of Government of India – United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – Disaster Risk Management Programme (DRMP) (2002-09) from US $ 34 million to US $ 41 million and also post facto extension of the Programme upto 30th June 2009. The additional outlay of US$ 7 million was necessitated to extend the Programme to 7 more districts affected by Tsunami in Tamil Nadu and also to raise funds for assisting 5 North-Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland & Tripura for construction of Emergency Operation Centres and providing them basic equipment and critical emergency rescue kits.
