The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is organising an Electronics & Information Technology Exposition "ELITEX-2005", an annual interaction of various electronics and information technology institutions so as to disseminate information on the technologies and products developed by them. Shri Dayanidhi Maran, Minister of Communications & Information Technology will inaugurate the Exposition on 25th April, here. ELITEX-2005, the two-day exhibition-cum-seminar will have the theme "Grassroot Applications using ICT". Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission will also address the event. The seminar will provide special focus on Grassroot Technologies, Applications and Developments.
The Forum, besides serving as a platform for sharing experience and interaction with experts, will provide an opportunity for the industry to pick a product/technology for commercial exploitation as also the R&D institutes and academics to identify industry needs. The seminar will also focus on the e-Governance initiatives of the Government of India. The important elements of the National Action Plan on e-Governance will be presented. The exhibition will focus on the technologies/know-how developed at various institutions under DIT.
The scope of the ELITEX-2005 has been enlarged to include official participation from all countries. It is expected that delegates from Republic of Senegal, Oman, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nairobi, Zambia and Port of Spain will be attending this event. The official delegations from these countries will focus on commercial potential and tie-up possibilities on the technologies/services available from India in a separate session during the seminar. Efforts are made to have all the member countries of Asia Electronics Info-Communications Union (AEIU) participate.
