At present there is no proposal to set up Defence Minister’s Council on Production (DMCP). However, Raksha Mantri’s Production Committee was set up in November 2013 with members drawn from Department of Defence, Department of Defence Production, Defence Research & Development Organisation, Ministry of Defence (Finance), Service Head Quarters, Defence Public Sector Undertakings and Industry Associations under chairmanship of Raksha Rajya Mantri with a mandate to aid and advise the Raksha Mantri in close monitoring of programmes pertaining to the Department of Defence Production and promotion of Indigenous Defence Industry on a structured basis.
This information was given by Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Shri Prahlad Joshi in Lok Sabha today.
