The Heritage Route from Ahmedabad to Dandi has been declared as National Highway No. 228 in June, 2006 and entrusted to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on 31.10.2006 for development and maintenance. NHAI has been asked to take up the improvement works on this National Highway to minimum 2-lane NH Standards under Ministry’s budgetary support. However, there is no separate allocation for NH-228. It is too early to give time frame for completion of the improvement works.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Shri K.H. Muniyappa in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
