Copper production in April 2005

The total production of copper cathode in the organized sector during April 2005 was 33,640 tonnes against 30,012 tonnes in April 2004. Out of this, the public sector Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has produced 1,706 tonnes against a target of 1,300 tonnes. The private sector units Hindalco Industries Limited (HINDALCO) produced 16,204 tonnes against a target of 20,150 tonnes and Sterlite Industries (India) Limited (SIL) produced 15,730 tonnes against a target of 16,000 tonnes.

HCL, after incurring loss for 90 consecutive months, has made a turnaround during 2004-05 and posted a net profit of Rs.52.07 crore. During April 2005, it has also crossed its production target.
