There has been a marked increase in cold storage capacity building for food preservation in the country in the last three years.
Under its plan schemes the Ministry of Food Processing Industries provides financial assistance to entrepreneurs by way of grant-in-aid to build different types of cold storages. Besides preserving horticultural produce, aid is also given for setting up cold storages to food processing units. The National Horticulture Board provides assistance for cold storages for fruits and their products.
