The Government has allocated coal blocks to various State Electricity Boards and State Power Utilities to meet their requirements. West Bengal State Electricity Board has been allocated Tara (East) and West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited has Tara (West), Gangaramchak, Barjora, Gangaramchak-Bhadulia and Pachwara (North). Punjab State Electricity Board has Pachwara (Central) block. Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board has Gidhmuri and Paturia; Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited, Jharkhand has Badam coal block and Karanataka Power Corporation Limited has Baranj I-IV, Kiloni and Manora Deep blocks.
Government have received requests from West Bengal State Electricity Board, Punjab State Electricity Board, Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board, Jharkhand State Electricity Board, Gujarat Electricity Board, Maharashtra State Electricity Board and other State Power Utilities for allocation of coal blocks.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, today.
