Coal Ministry Withdraws Dealocation of Coal Block to NTPC
Coal Ministry has withdrawn de-allocation of coal block to NTPC .
Chatti Bariatu, Chatti Bariatu (South) and Kerandari coal blocks allotted to NTPC were de-allocated on 14.06.2011. Upon representation of Ministry of Power and NTPC for reviewing the decision of de-allocation, âin principleâ decision to withdraw the de-allocation was taken in January, 2012. The matter was examined in consultation with the Ministry of Law & Justice in view of the amendment to MMDR Act in 2010 and notification of Rules thereunder in February, 2012. Keeping in view the impending disinvestment of NTPC and the fact that âin principleâ decision was already conveyed to them to withdraw the de-allocation. The decision to de-allocate has been withdrawn and the above three coal blocks stand restored to NTPC. NTPC would develop the coal blocks as per the revised schedule submitted by them. NTPC may further also apply for the coal blocks from amongst the coal blocks circulated calling for applications from the Government companies. The applications shall be evaluated on the basis of the pre-determined criteria which include preparedness for the projects and the financials of the company.
