The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Gulam Nabi Azad called on the Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T.R. Baalu here today to discuss the development and maintenance of road network in the State.
The Chief Minister raised some specific issues concerning road development in J&K : Second installment of Central Road Fund (CRF) funds due to the state to be released by the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways; Release of funds for Bhaderwah-Chamba road from the Inter State Connectivity (ISC) fund; Release of outstanding amount under CRF from previous years; start of four laning of National Highway No.1 A from Srinagar side; and Street lighting of Jammu bypass
Thiru Baalu informed that second installment amounting to Rs. 16.95 crore has already been released and further release shall be made on submission of utilization certificate by the state Government. On the issue of Bhaderwah-Chamba road, it was informed that estimate is in advanced stage of sanction and funds shall be released soon after the sanction of the estimate. As far as the other issues raised by the Chief Minister, the Minister promised to have them examined at the earliest possible.
