Cabinet Approves Amendment Notice to Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2005

   The Union Cabinet today gave its approval  for the Amendment Notice to  Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2005 be moved in Parliament in the.

            The proposal would entail the following benefits :

Facilitate implementation of the urgent recommendations of the Tiger Task Force appointed by the Prime Minister, which have been accepted for implementation.

Strengthen Project Tiger by giving it statutory as well as administrative powers, apart from reporting annually to the Parliament,  so that commitment to  Project Tiger is reviewed from time to time.

Reinforcing the ongoing initiatives to conserve the tiger in the wake of present threats and need for  a viable habitat.

Develop approaches to strengthen the ongoing efforts for conserving tigers in the designated tiger reserves and other tiger bearing forests of the country.

Address the growing concern among public for saving the tiger.

 This Bill will clear considerable number of pending cases in subordinate judiciary.  It will also provide  a system of judiciary, which will be less expensive, free from protracted procedural wrangles, quick and available at the grass-root level, accessible to the common man and render justice to him as enshrined in Article 39A of the Constitution.
