All Airlines asked to withdraw Congestion surcharge

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked all scheduled airlines to withdraw congestion surcharge. The airlines have been asked to respond by 21 March 2007. This information was given by Shri Praful Patel, Minister for Civil Aviation in the Parliament today.

The Minister informed the Parliament that the Private Scheduled Airlines are charging Air Congestion Surcharge on their entire network

However, the Minister informed that, domestic airfares are not regulated by the Government after the repeal of Air Corporation Act, 1953. Domestic Airlines are free to charge airfares in their commercial judgment.
