The Planning Commission has been requested to increase the overall allocation under JNNURM. The group chaired by Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India set up to consider and suggest ways of Financing Urban Sector Projects has recommended that an additional amount of Rs.20,000 crore may be allocated during the 11th Plan period under JNNURM for urban infrastructure projects. An additional Rs.10,000 crore may be allocated under JNNURM for providing incentive to better performing states and cities and its allocation may be linked to quality of implementation of reforms and projects.
The name of Cities of Andhra Pradesh included under Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG) component of JNNURM are (i) Hyderabad (ii) Vijayawada, and (iii) Visakhapatnam. The Planning Commission has made an indicative allocation of Rs.1718.45 crore for the period 2005-12 for Andhra Pradesh and an amount of Rs.1565.00 crore has been committed as Additional Central Assistance till 30.9.2008.
