31 ISI backed espionage modules neutralized in the country

As per available information 31 ISI backed espionage modules were neutralized in various parts of the country during the period January 01,2005 to July 20, 2006, resulting in arrest of 56 espionage agents including 21 Pak resident agents, some of whom had infiltrated through the Indo-Pak Border.

The Government has been pursuing a well coordinated and multi-pronged approach to tackle the activities of ISI by strengthening the border management to check illegal cross border activities, gearing up the intelligence machinery, close interaction and coordination between different agencies of the Centre and the State Governments for neutralizing plans of militants and ISI/anti-national elements, modernization and upgradation of police and security forces with advanced sophisticated weapons and communication system and action against the espionage elements under the Official Secrets Act etc.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Home, Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
