The Minister for External Affairs, Shri K. Natwar Singh is inaugurating 2nd International Conference in International Law organized by the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL). The Conference is being held from 14th to 17th November, 2004 at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will address Special Plenary Session on November 15, 2004.
The important themes such as International investment law, WTO and intellectual property rights; Law of outer space; Private International Law: Jurisdiction, applicable law and enforcement; The UN and emerging world order; International Terrorism Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and International law of Environment and sustainable Development will be discussed. The ISIL, established in 1959 under the patronage of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, provides research and consultancy support to several Indian Organizations, Universities and International Organizations.
The Conference is being attended by over 70 delegates from 27 countries and seventeen international organizations and about 300 delegates from all over India who are experts in the field of International Law. These include: H.E. Philippe Kirsch, President, International Criminal Court, the Hague, The Netherlands; Prof. V.S. Mani, Vice-Chancellor, Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi; Dr. Edward Kwakwa, Acting Legal Counsel, World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva and Mr. James Carter, President, American Society of International Law, Washington, D.C., USA.
