‘New moral regeneration in public life needed’: PM COMMEMORATIVE STAMP ON PRABODH CHANDRA RELEASED

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has called for “a new moral regeneration in public life”. Releasing a commemorative postage stamp on Late Shri Prabodh Chandra, at a function here today, the Prime Minister said, “our political parties, our elected representatives, our Government officials, our businessmen, our media, our judiciary, the members of every pillar of our democracy must look inwards and ask the question whether we are living up to the ideals and expectations of our freedom fighters and founding fathers of our Republic”.

Paying rich tributes to Shri Prabodh Chandra’s role in the country’s freedom struggle, Dr. Singh said, “it is important that the present and future generations learn about the character and personality of people like Prabodh Chandraji”. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the commemorative stamp would perpetuate Shri Prabodh Chandra’s memory and popularise his ideas.

Former Prime Minister, Shri I.K. Gujral, senior Union Cabinet Ministers - Shri Shivraj Patil, Shri Arjun Singh, Minister of State (Communication & Information Technology), Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Members of Parliament, Smt. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi and eminent persons from various walks of public life attended the function.
