Monitoring of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)

The responsibility for implementation of ICDS Programme including computerization if any rests with States/UTs. The Estimates Committee emphasised that computerization and network connectivity should form part of the ICDS Strengthening. As part of Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS Scheme, Government has approved a provision of Rs.50/- per Anganwadi Worker per month for Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) at a sharing ratio of 90:10 between Centre and State. This has been communicated to all States/ UTs vide Ministry’s Administrative approval dated 22.10.2012 and 26.10.2012 for implementation of restructured ICDS Scheme.

As per information available from States/ UT, 30 States have constituted the Monitoring and Supervision Committees at State, District, Project & Anganwadi levels. Out of remaining 5 States, 3 States namely Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi have constituted partly and 2 States namely J&K and Jharkhand did not constitute these committees.

This was stated by Smt. Krishna Tirath, Minister for Women and Child Development, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha today.
