(a) whether the railways has done any assessment of coaches required in the near future and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether on the basis of this assessment the railways has decided to set up new coach factories in the country;
(c) if so, the details thereof including the locations, identified for the purpose;
(d) whether the Railways has any proposal to start the pending projects in this regard; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Annual requirement of coaches assessed for the current year and next two years are as under:-

These are inclusive of all types of coaches.
(b) Based on the assessed requirement, Railways has not felt need to set up new factories, for manufacture of mainline coaches, in near future.
(c) Does not arise.
(d) Presently, the Railways do not plan to start the pending projects for mainline coach manufacturing.
(e) Sufficient manufacturing capacity is available in Railway Production Units to cater to requirements.
