Question : IISER at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh

(a) the budget sanctioned by the Government for constructing permanent campus of IISER at Tirupati Andhra Pradesh;
(b) whether the construction of the campus has started;
(c) if so, the details thereof, and if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) whether the Government can fulfill its obligation towards IISER by the year 2024 in accordance with Section 93 and item 1 in Thirteenth Schedule of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014; and
(e) if so, the details thereof, and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): The Union Cabinet has approved a total of Rs. 1491.34 Crore (Rs. 1137.16 Crore for Capital and Rs. 354.18 Crores for Recurring) for construction of permanent campus of IISER Tirupati.

(b) & (c):The construction of permanent campus started in May, 2018. The details are as follows:
(i) Construction of two students’ double occupancy hostels commenced in May, 2018 and was completed in August, 2020.
(ii) Construction of Undergraduate Laboratory commenced in June, 2019 and was completed in October, 2020.
(iii) Construction of other major buildings commenced in October, 2020.
(d) & (e): Yes, Sir. An IISER has been established in Tirupati in the year 2015.
