Question : LENDING TO PRIORITY SECTOR



(a) the bank lending targets to priority sector including the food and agro-based processing sector in the States of Tripura, Assam, Mizoram and other States of North Eastern Region;

(b) the State-wise achievements in priority sector lending during the last three years;

(c) whether the ending amount has covered 40 per cent the net bank credit to the priority sector and in each of the States;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) it not, the steps taken against the defaulting banks?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI BALASAHEB VIKHE PATIL):

(a) Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has stipulated a target of 40 per cent of net bank credit for lending to the priority sector including food and agro-based processing sector, by domestic scheduled commercial banks on All India basis. No State-wise target has been stipulated for priority sector iending.

(b) Outstanding advances to the priority sector by scheduled commercial banks to the States of North Eastern Region during the last three years are given below:
