(a) No Madam, No new scheme is being proposed by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports for skill development during the current financial year.
(b)No Madam, There is no proposal to convert Nehru Yuva Kendras as district level skill development centre for youth
(c) Details of deployment of National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers for the past two years i.e 2014-15 and 2015-16 are enclosed as Annexure –I
To mobilize, motivate and organize the youths and to enhance their capacities to develop democratic institutional mechanism in the form of village based Youth Clubs, empower them to become productive and responsible citizens, assume local leadership to act as active partner in the process of community development and nation building activities with the spirit of equity, secularism and volunteerism, following three broad categories of programmes and activities are conducted by NYKS:
i) Core Programmes:
The Core Programmes are funded by the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. These activities are common to all NYKs in the country.
NYKS every year undertakes following set of programmes for youth club development, awareness and education, capacity enhancement, promotion of spirit of sportsmanship, promoting folk art and culture, skill up-gradation and programmes for promotion of national unity:
? Youth Club Development Programme
? Training on Youth Leadership and Community Development
? Theme Based Awareness and Education Programme
? Promotion of Sports (Sports material to Youth Clubs)
? Cluster and District level Inter Youth Club Sports Meet
? Skill Up-gradation Training Programme for Young Women and Men
? Promotion of Folk, Art and Culture
? Observance of Days of National and International Importance
? District Youth Convention and Yuva Kriti
ii) Schemes of the Department of Youth Affairs in the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports:
NYKS is also implementing the following Schemes of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for promoting national integration, personality & life skills development, volunteerism, leadership development & enhance capacities to deliberate on local contemporary issues confronting them :
? National Youth Corps Scheme
? National Programme for Youth and Adolescent Development
a) National Integration Camps
b) Youth Leadership and Personality Development Programme
c) Adventure Programmes
d) Life Skill Training for Adolescent
? National Young Leaders Programme
a) Neighbourhood Youth Parliament
b) Youth for Development Programme
Programme in Coordination with other Ministries, Department and Agencies
? Preventive Education and Awareness Generation against Drug Abuse and Alcoholism Projects in Punjab 2015-16. A programme in coordination with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
? 8th Tribal Youth Exchange Programme –MHA Project
? Participation in the celebration of International Yoga Day 2015
? Participation in the celebration of International Skill Day 2015
? Celebration of 125th birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedhkar in coordination with Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment
State wise, details of activities carried out by Nehru Yuva Kendras during the last two year is at Annexure-I (A) (B) (C) (D) (E) (F) (G) (H) (I) (J) .
(d) A new scheme, known as Khelo India- National Programme for Development of Sports is being launched during 2016-17 by merging the three existing schemes, viz. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA), Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme (USIS) and National Sports Talent Search Scheme (NSTSS) into a Central Sector Scheme. Infrastructure is one of the components of the revised scheme under which financial assistance is to be provided to the States/Union Territories as per norms of the Scheme.
(e)To encourage and promote sports culture and spirit of sportsmanship among rural youth, Sports Material (valued at about Rs.2000 per club) is provided to selected Youth Clubs every year.
State wise details of distribution of Sports and Games materials to Youth Clubs is placed at Annexure-II.
