Question : NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR MINORITY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS



(a) Whether the National Commission for Minority Educational institutions has urged the Government to not divide the society into two groups of majority and minority through the Constitution (103rd Amendment) Bill;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the present status of the Bill;

(c) whether the Commission has submitted its report in this regard; and

(d) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (d): The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions has conveyed some concerns regarding the Constitution (One Hundred and Third Amendment) Bill that was introduced in the Lok Sabha in December, 2004. The Standing Committee on Social Justice & Empowerment has submitted its Report regarding this to the Lok Sabha in February, 2006. Official amendments to the Bill have not been moved yet.
