(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to settle the 2G spectrum issues in the country?

Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI GURUDAS KAMAT)

(a) & (b): TRAI has issued only the pre-consultation paper to identify the issues involved in introduction of 4G such as allocation & pricing of spectrum for such services and issues related to licensing etc. The objective at this stage is to prepare a consultation paper for wider deliberation, so as to result in recommendations enabling the Government to take appropriate decision or for appropriate Regulations by the Authority.

Consultations on 2G spectrum issues have been completed and the recommendations are expected from TRAI.

(c): The Government shall examine the recommendations after it is received from TRAI for taking decision in the matter.
