(a) to (d): The Government in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has been
implementing programmes/schemes to create employment opportunities for women in rural and
tribal areas including those in Madhya Pradesh through Khadi and Village Industries
Commission(KVIC). These include a credit-linked subsidy programme named âPrime Ministerâs
Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)â implemented through KVIC as the national nodal agency
throughout the country, to provide employment opportunities by assisting individual
entrepreneurs/self help groups, including women and help in preventing their migration besides
increasing their earning capacity. At the State/Union Territories level, the scheme is
implemented through field offices of KVIC,State/Union Territory Khadi and Village Industries
Boards (KVIBs) and District Industries Centres (DICs) with involvement of Banks. Under PMEGP,
women entrepreneurs are entitled to a higher rate of margin money assistance at the rate of
35 per cent in rural areas and 25 per cent in urban areas and lower beneficiary contribution
of only 5%. The details of micro enterprises that were assisted and were to be set up by women
entrepreneurs under PMEGP during 2008-09 and 2009-10 are as under:
