Question : ALLOCATION OF FUNDS UNDER IAY



(a) the salient features of Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY);

(b) the details of beneficiaries identified under IAY in various States including Karnataka during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise, year and category-wise;

(c) whether the existing quota/allocation is insufficient to meet the growing demand of various categories under the scheme, if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government proposes to increase the quota/allocation to cater needs of people of different categories; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI SUDARSHAN BHAGAT)

(a) Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) is a continuous and an ongoing allocation based Scheme and is implemented by the States & UTs. Under the Scheme, assistance is provided to the rural BPL families for construction of houses. The rate of assistance is Rs.70,000 per unit (Rs.75,000 per unit in NE States and difficult areas). This is shared in the ratio of 75:25 (90:10 in the case of NE and difficult areas). Assistance is also provided for homestead plots at the rate of Rs.20,000 per unit, which is to be shared in the ratio of 50:50 between Centre and States. Assistance for upgradation of kutcha houses at the rate of Rs.15,000 per unit is also a component of the scheme.

(b) A statement indicating beneficiaries sanctioned houses under IAY in the country including Karnataka during the last three years & current year is given in the annexure.

(c), (d) & (e) Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) is ongoing allocation based scheme. The proposal for increase in quota/ allocation are examined keeping in view the allocation under the scheme.
