Question : Misuse and diversion of MGNREGS Funds

(a) whether the Government has taken note that the State Governments have been indulging in misuse and diversion of funds released under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of the funds released;

(c) whether the Government has assessed the details of the amount of funds diverted and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the High Court has also directed to submit the details of the diversion of funds and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the action being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (e): No specific matter of diversion of funds released under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (Mahatma Gandhi NREGS) has come to the notice of the Ministry. Instances of misuse of Mahatma Gandhi NREGS funds reported from States are promptly inquired into by the Ministry through local inspections, internal audits, social audits etc. and necessary corrective measures are initiated.
