Question : Development of Backward Region

(a) whether the Prime Minister visited recently any place in the country in connection with development of backward areas and Panchayati Raj Institutions in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the grants/development packages announced therefor;

(c) the detailed amount released to each State for development of backward areas and the expenditure made therefrom during each of the last three years and the current year;

(d) whether the PM has a proposal to visit more backward areas during the current year; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) In the recent past, the Prime Minister attended the national level convention of Panchayati Raj functionaries in Gujarat (Gandhinagar) on March 08, 2017 to participate in the ‘Swachh Shakti 2017’- a convention of Women Sarpanches. Prime Minister has visited many States and places in the past including from the backward areas.

(c) Details may be seen on concerned Ministry’s website.

(d) The Hon’ble Prime Minister visits various parts of the country including backward areas every year.
