(a) to (e) Yes, Sir. The Ministry of Rural Development is implementing Swarnjayanti
Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) as a self employment scheme with the objective to
bring the assisted poor families (Swarozgaris) above the poverty line. This objective is to
be achieved by inter-alia organizing the rural poor into Self Help Groups (SHGs) through
a process of social mobilization, their training and capacity building and provision of
income-generating assets through a mix of bank credit and government subsidy. The
assisted families (Swarozgaris) may be individuals or groups (Self Help Groups).
However, emphasis is on the group approach.
A statement showing, State wise, individual swarozgaris assisted under the
scheme since its inception i.e., April, 1999 and upto June, 2005 is annexed.
