(a) The details of institutions which are facilitating research work under
various fields of culture in the country, State-wise;
(b) Whether the Government proposes to set up more such institutions in the country;
(c) If so, the details alongwith the locations thereof;
(d) The time by which these are likely to be set up;
(e) Whether any assessment has been made about the contribution of
such institutions in propagation and development of culture; and
(f) if so, the details thereof ?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (f) OF THE LOK SABHA
STARRED QUESTION NO. 247 DUE FOR ANSWER ON 10.8.2006 REGARDING
CULRURAL INSTITUTIONS FOR RESEARCH WORKS
a) A list of institutions under the Ministry of Culture which are engaged in
research work is given in the Annexure along with their location and the area
of research .
b) There is no decision at present to set up more such institutions.
(c) & (d) Does not arise
(e) & (f) The working of various institutions under the Ministry of Culture is
assessed through following mechanism:-
i) Annual reports reflecting the activities and achievements of the institute;
ii) Performance budget reflecting physical and financial achievements in
respect of each institute;
iii) Outcome budget introduced from the year 2006-07;
iv) Continuous discussion and monitoring during meetings of the
Governing Bodies, General Bodies, Finance Committees, etc.
