Question : RURAL COMMUNITY PHONES



(a) the norms prescribed for sanction of rural community phones;

(b) the number of community phones installed in Rajasthan as on date;

(c) whether all the rural areas would be provided with community phones; and

(d) if so, the time by which it is likely to be accomplished?

(a) As per prescribed norms, Rural Community Phones (RCPs) are to be provided in the form of second VPT in villages having population of more than 2000 and having no Public Call Office (PCO).

(b) As on 31-10-2005, 521 community phones have been installed in Rajasthan.

(c) & (d) The remaining 895 eligible villages having population of more than 2000 and having no PCO would be provided with community phones by September, 2007.
