Question : COFFEE PLANTATIONS IN ORISSA

(

(a) whether private sector has been involved in coffee plantation in the country particularly in Orissa; (

(b) if so, the details of the areas in each State where coffee plantation has started in the private sector ; and (

(c) the annual production of coffee in these areas in each State during each of the last three years?

( a ) & ( b ) : About 98% of the coffee produced in India is grown in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu and the entire production in these states is contributed by the individual / company holdings belonging to private sector. In Orissa 460 hectare coffee plantation is in the private sector. Details of the State-wise coffee plantation in the private sector is given below:-
