Question : LAYOUT OF COAL MINES



(a) whether the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) has issued any instructions to the private sector coal companies to examine whether the layouts of their coal mines conform to their geological status;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether any time-limit has been fixed to complete the examination of the accuracy of layout of the underground mines;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): The management of all coal companies including private companies have been addressed by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) to do check survey of their respective underground coal mines and make the plan up-to date and accurate.

(c) & (d): In the instructions issued to the managements, no time limit has been prescribed. However the officers of the DGMS have been instructed to check whether the check survey of underground coal mines have been done by the coal companies and the plan is up-to-date. They have also been instructed to issue improvement notice to the management specifying time limit to complete the check survey.

(e): Does not arise.
