(a),(b)&(c) The recommendations of the National Committee set up in August 1998 to review benefits/facilities provided to Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers under ICDS Scheme, include enhancement of honorarium of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers; maternity leave benefits at par with women employees of organised sectors; community contribution for raising their remuneration; scheme of Awards to dedicated Anganwadi Workers and Helpers; setting up of Anganwadi Workers’ Welfare Fund and provision for contributory Group Insurance by the State Governments.

Many State Governments viz. Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Goa, Punjab, Tripura and Union Territory Administration of Chandigarh, A&N Island, Lakshadweep, Pondicherry and NCT of Delhi are providing additional honoarium to Anganwadi Workers and Helpers ranging from Rs.200 to Rs.1000 and from Rs.40 to Rs.400 per month, respectively. Performance-linked additional honorarium at the rate of Rs.50 per month has been provided under nutrition component of PMGY. Anganwadi Workers and Helpers have been allowed paid absence of 135 days on maternity. Scheme of Awards to dedicated Anganwadi Workers has been introduced.
