Question : CERVICAL CANCER AMONG WOMEN



(a) whether the Government proposes to involve the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to spread awareness for prevention of the Cervical Cancer amongst women in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of the projects funded by the Union Government, State-wise; and

(d) the steps taken by the Union Government for prevention of Cervical Cancer in the country?

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE(SHRI GHULAM NABI AZAD)

(a) to (d): This Ministry is implementing various schemes under National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) which also includes District Cancer Control Programme (DCCP). The scheme specially focuses on early detection of cancer including that of cervical cancer among women. Non-Governmental Organizations can also seek the grant-in-aid for prevention and creating awareness under the NCCP.

Health being a State Subject,it is for various State Governments to ensure that adequate facilities for early detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer are made available and the Central Govt. is supplementing the efforts of the State Governments by providing financial assistance.

The details of the grant-in-aid provided under the DCCP for the last three years is annexed.
